Once, you could hear rasping, milling and hammering sounds from the now newly renovated “Alte Schlosserei”. The industrial working hall of Offenbach’s power supply company (EVO) was changed into a striking space for Arts and Culture. Thus, EVO facilitates and accompanies Offenbach’s development from an industrial city towards a centre for creative ideas with a new founder’s spirit. EVO doesn’t present mainstream Arts, but it underlines diversity and is taking part in the shaping of Offenbach’s Nordend Quarter to develop a distinctive new image. “Our cultural programme does not come from event agency’s catalogues. It’s a distinct high quality programme that we select carefully together with our partners”, says Heike Heim, EVO-chairperson.
“Alte Schlosserei” is a workshop hall built in the fifties of last century on the EVO company grounds. The electricity supply company has been using the hall as a workshop and storage space until 2013. With the renovation works it was possible to link industrial charm with modern event technology: The “Alte Schlosserei” with its 600 square metres can thus not only be used for artistic and cultural events but also for conferences, seminars, conventions and assemblies of all sorts.
